The LG XBOOM CL98 is a 3500W mini hi-fi system with two tall speakers, a twin jog wheel control deck and lighting built into the speaker cones. Two microphone inputs, twin USB, CD and FM are all on board.

The LG XBOOM CL98 is a party audio system in three parts: two tall speakers and a control deck that sits between them. LG rates the system at 3500W. Each speaker carries a large low frequency driver, a mid driver and a tweeter, with red lighting rings set around the cones and a carry handle moulded into each side.

The speakers stand separately from the deck, so you can push them apart to widen the sound across a room or a compound rather than being stuck with one box.

Key Features

  • Sound that carries across a full room or yard. LG rates the system at 3500W, driving a woofer, mid and tweeter in each of the two speakers.
  • Two people can sing at once. MIC 1 and MIC 2 sockets sit on the front, with Mic Echo, Mic Volume, Key Changer and a Voice Canceller button to drop the lead vocal from a track.
  • Play DJ without buying separate gear. Twin jog wheels marked DJ Scratcher, four DJ pads including Club and Drum, DJ Loop, DJ Effect and a Party Accelerator button are all on the top panel.
  • Lighting that keeps the party going. Red rings around the drivers are fed by dedicated speaker lighting sockets on the back, with a Lighting button on the deck.
  • Bring music on whatever you have. Two USB ports and a 3.5mm AUX IN on the front, a CD slot that reads MP3 CD and CD-R/RW, RCA AUX IN 2 and an FM antenna socket at the back.
  • Extra low end when a track needs it. A Special EQ / Bass Blast button and a User EQ setting sit beside the left jog wheel.

Everything you touch during a party is on one panel, so you can change the mic echo or fire a DJ pad without hunting through menus in the dark.

The speaker terminals are colour coded and labelled high, mid and low, which makes first setup straightforward. The lighting leads plug in separately from the speaker wires.
