The LG F2Y1TYP6JP is an 8kg front load washing machine. Clothes go in through the large round door at the front, and the drum is turned directly by a 6 Motion Direct Drive motor rather than through a belt. The control panel sits along the top: one dial for choosing the programme, an LED display showing the time, and separate buttons for spin, temperature and delay.

  • Washes a full family load in one go. The drum takes 8kg, which covers bedding, towels and a week of clothes without splitting the wash into two runs.
  • A small load done in half an hour. Quick 30 is one of the settings on the dial, next to Cotton and Eco 40-60.
  • Delicate things get their own setting. The dial includes Hand/Wool, Delicates, Easy Care, Mixed Fabric and Activewear, so you are not washing everything on a cotton cycle.

  • Finish the wash when it suits you. Delay End lets you set the hour the cycle ends, so laundry is not sitting wet while you are out.
