The LG S40T is a two piece sound system: a slim black soundbar that sits in front of the TV, and a tall subwoofer box that stands to one side and handles the low notes. Total power is rated at 300W.
The bar is finished in black with a fabric style grille across the front and a flat top panel carrying five touch controls: power, input, volume down, volume up and Bluetooth.

Key Features
- Bass comes from its own box, not the bar. The subwoofer is a separate tall cabinet, so low notes are not squeezed out of a slim enclosure.
- One cable to the television. The rear bay has an HDMI (ARC) output marked HDMI to TV, so TV sound travels down the same lead.
- Older TVs still connect. There is an Optical In socket next to the HDMI port for sets without ARC.
- Play music from your phone. A Bluetooth button sits on the top panel with the volume and input keys.
- Change source without hunting for the remote. Power, input and volume are touch controls on the top of the bar.
- Cables stay out of sight. The ports sit in a recess underneath, so leads run out flat rather than sticking backwards.
